Hello! Welcome to dontmissmyplate.

Thank you for visiting the website! I'm Maxine, blogger, home cook, soon to be food entrepreneur, and lover of all things food and fusion cuisine (a style of cooking that combines ingredients and methods from different countries, regions, or cultures). My approach is primarily rooted in both a Zimbabwean and American perspective based on my life experiences, making it quite varied. I hope you find the website helpful and come back! There is something for everyone, and recipes are designed to inspire you to try something new.

Three words - ice cream tacos. One of the few places in the DMV you can find this treat. If you are an oyster or fried chicken fan, the hip hop-inspired also bar shines a spot light on fried chicken platters, sliders, and fried shrimp among etc.

Although Roy Boys is known for their fried chicken and oysters, I actually went for the first time to try their ice cream tacos right before Saint Patrick’s Day. To my knowledge, this is the first establishment that has ice cream tacos as a permanent feature on their dessert menu in the DC area.

Fried Chicken Sliders

These sliders are okay. There was not too much flavor and they needed some sort of sauce, a bit dry but order them if you please.

Besides the ice cream tacos, the fried chicken platters are worth the trip. However the traditional chicken is seasoned make it downright addictive. The battered skin is super crispy and the chicken is well cooked and delicious.
